Lymph node cancer is a type of cancer with a high cure rate if treated early. In order to be detected as early as possible so that you can be treated immediately, you need to recognize the following symptoms of lymph node cancer. Lymph node cancer (lymphoma) is a feared disease because it can cause death. Lymph node cancer sufferers in the world are increasing every year. By 2018, there were almost 600,000 new sufferers worldwide. In Indonesia alone, it is estimated that there were more than 14,000 people with lymphoma in 2013. Therefore, it is very important to know the symptoms of lymph node cancer to be more vigilant and not be late for treatment.

What is lymph node cancer?

Our body has a lymph system or lymphatic system which acts as the body's immune system. The lymphatic system includes lymph nodes, spleen, thymus gland, tonsils, and bone marrow. Cancer itself is a condition in which body cells grow out of control. Lymph node cancer or lymphoma is cancer of white blood cells in the lymph system. In contrast to leukemia, which grows on white blood forming cells in the bone marrow. Until now, the exact cause of lymphoma is unknown. There are many types of lymphomas, with different symptoms and treatments. However, there are two types of lymphomas that are most often found, namely:
  • Hodgkin's lymphoma
  • Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma

Cancer Symptoms of Lymph Nodes

Each type of lymph node cancer (lymphoma) has different symptoms. But in general, symptoms that can appear in lymphoma are:
  • Lumps in the neck, armpits or groin. These lumps are painless, and are a sign of enlarged lymph nodes.
  • Weight loss.
  • Fever.
  • Limp.
  • Stomach ache.
  • Stomach enlarges (due to enlargement of spleen organs).
  • Night sweats.
  • Bone pain.
  • Itchy.
  • Cough.
  • Hard to breathe.
The appearance of lymphoma symptoms is also influenced by the stage of the cancer, which consists of stages 1 to 4. In the early stages, lymphomas can not cause any symptoms. If from the symptoms that appear coupled with the results of the examination there is a suspicion of lymph node cancer, then the doctor will suggest further examination, in the form of blood tests, X-rays, CT scans, MRI, or lymph node biopsy. Biopsy is done by taking a portion of tissue from the lymph nodes and then examined using a microscope. Keep in mind that not all enlarged lymph nodes are lymph node cancer. Enlarged lymph nodes can also be caused by other things, such as infection. Therefore, if you experience the complaints above, you should immediately consult a doctor so that the cause can be found and treated as soon as possible.
